About the Fond
The Národní filmový archiv, Prague has 84 collections of film. These were taken over as unprocessed from the corporate archive of the Central Directorate of Czechoslovak State Film at the time of its liquidation after 1990. Today it is possible to freely research in these materials.
The first group of collections contains archival material (almost exclusively film related documents) from the activities of film production and distribution companies and professional associations in the field of cinema until 1945. The fonds of the major production and distribution companies Elekta, Lucerna, Nationalfilm, Bratři Deglové, among others, are stored and processed.
The second group are the institutional fonds of nationalised cinema after 1945 - e.g. the Czechoslovak Film Society II, the Film Council, the Central Directorate of Czechoslovak Film, etc. Some of these fonds are unprocessed and therefore not commonly accessible. For study purposes it is possible to apply for an exemption
