More

I have been the Director General of the Národní filmový archiv since 2012. I started here in 1987, when I held various jobs that are still entrusted to the Archiv today. In the meantime, I have devoted myself to research and teaching, especially at FAMU, where I was Dean and then Head of the Department of FAMU International from 2002 to 2008. My professional interest has focused mainly on the history of cinema in various cultural and social contexts, and even today I occasionally return to my lifelong interest in Czech and European modernism and the avant-garde.

Since 2014 I have been a member of the Executive Committee of the European Association of Film Archives ACE and since 2022 I have the honour to be its President. From 2017 to 2021 I was also a member of the Executive Committee of the International Federation of Film Archives FIAF.

Thanks to a great team, as Director General I can strive to preserve and multiply the value of not only the collection we care for, but also the professional competences that are constantly evolving in film archiving.

Everyone in the archive knows that the doors of the director's office are open to all. This is also true for people outside the archive, because we communicate with the public on a daily basis, and gladly. My contacts are easily accessible to everyone.
