Summary

The threat of disruption to the golden wedding anniversary of a deserving miner provided the theme for a light comedy made in 1972 by director Jaroslav Mach. Grandpa Kubza decides to invite the extended family to the anniversary celebration, including his daughter Anděla who is trying to hide the fact that she is about to get a divorce. And when grandpa disappears and everyone is convinced he has spent the night with flirtatious widow Putifarka, grandma begins to want a divorce too. Everything is eventually explained to everyone’s satisfaction and all the bruised relationships heal… Although the script of this jovial film and Mach’s rather noncommittal directing do not exactly amount to a brilliant foundation, the motion picture still offers a respectable display of good acting. The ageing couple are played by Bohuš Záhorský and Jiřina Šejbalová. They are supported by, for instance, Vladimír Menšík, Radovan Lukavský and Jiří Sovák.
