The image was digitized from the original negative on Kodak material and at 4K resolution, the working and finishing resolution was set to 4K based on tests. The visible portion of the image is defined by the Cinemascope format projection standard with an optical soundtrack with an aspect ratio of 1:2.35. The film was projected in this format at the time of its first release.

In addition to the original negative and the duplication positive, three prints on Kodak and Agfa material survive in the NFA. Of these, one was selected as the most suitable for reference of tonal presentation. The tonality of the digitised version of the film is thus based on this particular film print on Agfa material.

Possible sources for the sound digitisation were: sound negative, duplication positive and positive print. Based on the tests, the audio negative was chosen as the most suitable source.
