Blue Star Hotel

Martin Frič, 1941

Two years after Kristian ( 1939), the popular acting trio of Nataša Gollová, Oldřich Nový and Adina Mandlová joined forces with director Martin Frič to make a remake of Karel Lamac's romantic comedy Das verliebte Hotel (The Loved Hotel ) from 1933. The plot of both films revolves around the title hotel. It is inherited by the self-confident and hard-working Zuzana (Gollová), who tries to both resurrect the failing business and win the heart of the wealthy Vladimir (Nový), who is suffering in his relationship with the elegant Milada (Mandlová). The popular First Republic comedy is based on the acting consistency of the main actors, who are given ample room to show their comedic talents, and on the witty story. In 1941, the film was awarded the Zlín City Prize at the Film Harvest Festival, and Nataša Gollová received the national award for acting.
