The director explores the daily life and culture of Argentine gauchos—ranchers who have chosen to live on the wild pampas. This three-part series is as much a travelogue as it is a collection of impressions drawn from Argentine folk culture, particularly its music.

An Argentinian Journey – The Gaucho and The Pampas

The first part is a portrait of the gaucho, a national symbol of Argentina, who rides on horseback across vast steppes where no trees grow to shield him from the sun’s rays.

An Argentinian Journey II – Zamba, Chacarera & Chamame

In the second part of the trilogy, the crew moves from the Pampas to the northern provinces and discovers three distinct styles of music and dance that evolved in the 19th century and have their roots in pre-colonial culture.

An Argentinian Journey III – Pacha Mama – Sacred Land

In the final part, we find ourselves in the Calchaquí Valleys on the ridges of the majestic Andes—in Argentina’s least developed region, with traditions and customs dating back to before Inca rule. The finale features a carnival dedicated to Pacha Mama—the goddess of the Earth.
