Summary
A historical event provides the background to director Štěpán Skalský’s film drama Zakázaný výlet (Forbidden Trip, 1981); the shootings by armed police into crowds of workers’ children in Radotín on April 20, 1930. The story’s teenage heroine Boženka, the daughter of an impoverished washerwoman from Prague, lives a life of poverty and deprivation. One day her teacher offers her a prominent singing role in the workers’ choir and her life is transformed. However, on a tragic visit to Radotín, she is cruelly reminded of the unjust world she lives in… Talented actress and singer Pavlína Mourková starred in another of the many features that depict the First Czechoslovak Republic as a time of social injustice and oppression. The role of her politically conscious mother, who has been exhausted by years of hard labour, was embodied by the perfectly cast Jana Březinová. Experienced actor Jaroslav Satoranský played the part of the benevolent teacher.
