The film was digitally restored in 2015.

The individual episodes were originally filmed and shown as separate short films. At the end of 1947, they were compiled by Jiří Trnka into a feature film and released under the title Špalíček.

The image was digitized from the original negative on Agfacolor material. A duplication positive was used as a secondary source for the two episodes for which no original negative survived(Bethlehem, The Legend of St. Procopius). The image was digitized at 4K resolution, the working and finishing resolution was set to 4K based on tests. The visible part of the image is defined by the projection window standard with an aspect ratio of 1:1.37. The film was screened in this format at the time of its first release.

In addition to the original negative, a duplication positive and a duplication negative for each episode, three prints on Agfacolor and Orwocolor material are preserved in the NFA. Of these, one was selected as the most suitable for colour reference. The colour rendering of the digitised version of the film is thus based on this particular Agfacolor print.

The possible sources for the sound digitisation were: sound negative, duplicate sound negative and positive print. Based on the tests, the duplicate sound negative was chosen as the most suitable source.
