Břetislav Pojar

This year marks the centenary of the birth of Břetislav Pojar (1923-2012), one of the most important creators of Czech animation. Pojar won his first international awards in 1954 at the Cannes IFF for his puppet film O skleničku víc ( 1953) and in 1960 in Annecy, France, for Lev a písnička (1959). Regardless of his international successes and rich filmography, he is still the author of the unforgettable series about teddy bears Pojďte, sir, jsme si play (1965-1967) and Who threw it, gentlemen? (1970-1973) and the popular series The Garden ( 1974-1977), which he created with the artist Miroslav Štěpánek.
