Třináctiletá Melanie po ničem netouží víc než setkat se se svým idolem z Instagramu – o rok starší influencerkou Leonie. Sama žije osamělý život daleko od Berlína a veškerý čas, kdy nespí, tráví prací na fanouškovské stránce věnované právě svému vzoru. Netuší, co všechno musela populární teenagerka své kariéře obětovat a jak obrovský tlak na ni sociální sítě vytvářejí. Veškerý management spojený s jejími kampaněmi vykonávají sami rodiče v domnění, že jí plní sen. Podle svých slov chtějí pro svou dceru lepší budoucnost, než měli oni sami. Zdánlivě pohádkový život dobře fungující rodinné firmy narušují výpady hejtrů, podle nichž jsou Leoniina vyretušovaná videa plytká a její rodiče se chovají jako vykořisťovatelé.
Thirteen-year-old Melanie wants nothing more than to meet her Instagram idol Leonie, an influencer a year older than her. She spends all her waking hours working on a fan page dedicated to her role model. She has no idea how much the popular teenager has had to sacrifice for her career, and how much pressure her online life puts on her. Leonie's parents take care of all her management, believing that they are fulfilling her dream. They want a better future for their daughter than they had for themselves. This seemingly fairy-tale life of a well-functioning family business is disrupted by the outbursts of haters who say Leonie's retouched videos are shallow and her parents behave like exploiters.
